Departure of the 35th Iowa Regiment for Camp
The 1862 Muscatine chapter recalls the Thirty-fifth Iowa regiment leaving for camp. Crowds gathered on Front Street as the train departed at 10:30 amid cheers, music, and farewells. Major O’Connor praised citizens and especially Muscatine women, while 47 soldiers remained hospitalized.
