In Wilkesbarre a foggy morning ends in two union pickets killed and a third wounded when strikers’ guards attack men who were believed to be trying to pass their line. Victims John Keata and Frank Patrick were on way to join the strike at the Maltby colliery.
Boone Iowa hosts the Iowa Christian convention starting today for a four day session. The Christian Women's Board of Missions will lead until Tuesday noon when the convention proper begins. J. M. Rudy of Cedar Rapids serves as president with J. P. McKnicitt OsKaloosa as vice president and W. H. Scott Marshalltown as second vice president. J. P. Telford North English is secretary and C E Wells Cherokee is assistant.
Menno Guengerich son of George Guengerich a Washington township farmer was struck by lightning Friday evening near a barn lot in Town City Ia and died instantly. A horse also died from the bolt. His grandfather Joseph Shetler was killed by lightning eight years earlier about two miles away.

Montezuma residents Everett Skeels and Frank Smith aged 18 and 20 were arrested for attempting to commit an assault on two 10 year old girls Myrtle Roadenizer and May Wilson. The alleged act occurred some time ago and was only uncovered last week.

Stratford Iowa September 8 The baby boy of Mr and Mrs Will Rayne five miles south of Stratford drowned Friday in a wash boiler of water near a pump. The child just old enough to walk wandered to the boiler and fell in the water. found by the parents dead. The accident was not witnessed and the cause remains unknown.
