Great Glidden Tour Is 10 Crossed Route Planned
The American Automobile Association touring committee will send the Glidden tourists west next summer causing widespread interest in Illinois Wisconsin and Iowa. Local auto clubs and newspapers along the route promise a warm welcome as the group passes through Dubuque Cedar Rapids Des Moines and Milwaukee. Donald McIntosh, driving the Studebaker scout, hunts suitable roads and hears requests to favor certain cities as the scout tours southern Iowa and Missouri this week.

A well preserved lithograph from 1845 shows Muscatine then Bloomington viewed from across the river. J. S. Wild painted the scene during a 1845 visit. James G. Dougherty of Santa Barbara sent the print to the Musser library. The image includes the ferry, three packets including the Falcon, and the shoreline with early buildings.
