The San Francisco Chronicle reports a broad graft inquiry into earthquake relief funds. Investigators including F. J. Heney and about 100 agents trace up to $1,000,000 sent from several states that never reached the relief committee. President Roosevelt is described as the moving force behind the investigation and vows swift justice for any diverted funds.

C C Myers a juror reports two offers of 509 to him to cause a hung jury and force a mistrial. He does not know who made the offers but suspects the same man in both instances.
Iowa City November 14 Special Coach Chalmers expects about 30 alumni to join the alumni team for their game against the regulars on Saturday November 17. The tentative lineup features doctors lawyers and professors from across Iowa with several more former players listed to attend or cheer.

Jack Botkin of East Hill was summoned by telephone to his father W. H. Bodkin in Maquoketa after a paralytic stroke. Bodkin fell unconscious Sunday and has remained helpless. Jack Bodkin and spouse departed on the Firefly to Maquoketa as kin gather, fearing for his life.
