Pella Tulip Time Visit By Muscatine Women
Thirty eight Muscatine residents joined a YWCA sponsored bus trip to Pella for Tulip Time. They toured Wyatt Earp's boyhood home and the Tulip Show, watched a street parade and tile scrubbing ritual, crowned 1968 Tulip Queen Judy DeCook, and returned home after a 208 mile, 12 hour excursion featuring Dutch costumes and flowering tulips.

Tulip Tower dedication at Tulip Time in Pella Iowa
The Tulip Toren rises about 30 feet on a two level platform as a community gift from Mr and Mrs P H Kuyper replacing a temporary tower built in 1940 after Princess Juliana’s visit. Governor Harold Hughes in wooden shoes, Mayor Caldwell, and townspeople in elaborate Dutch costumes attend the parade and festivities as Burgemeister and Town Crier display vivid attire.
