Her manager canceled appearances in several cities where she was billed for the next two weeks after she fainted in her dressing room just before the curtain rose at the Masonic Temple last night.
Former President Cleveland comments from Princeton on the alleged beef trust raise. He says the trust has overshot the mark, markets are full, products not widely sold, and stock raisers are selling cattle at reasonable figures, signaling a move toward normal conditions.
Attorneys for the C R I & P railroad filed charges against three men for attempting to break into the express and baggage cars of a midnight train. The suspects named William Lowrey Thomas Murphy and James Bohen are jailed awaiting a Monday hearing. Witnesses are absent and the trial may be delayed. the men claim to be job seekers from near MolineMuscatine and say others who escaped were strangers to them.

Mason City Iowa May 10 Duncan Rule expresses willingness to settle the congressional fight in Cerro Gordo at an early date in a letter to J F Blythe. The letter has not yet received an answer.

Mrs Clara Wilbert of Sheboygan Wisconsin filed for divorce from Adam Wilbert claiming unfitness to marry because he failed to strike the cuspidor when he expectorated and because he is an inveterate tobacco chewer. The decree was denied.
Aurora Illinois May 10 Congressman A J Hopkins returning home after the Republican state convention endorsement at Springfield was greeted by a large crowd. A parade of several hundred townspeople including many workingmen escorted him to his residence as a band led the welcome.
In St. Louis on May 10 Leslie Everman chief clerk at the West End hotel died from headaches that caused a brain hemorrhage.
Scranton May 10 President Mitchell of the United Mine Workers reports broad assurances that starting Monday no coal will be mined until the miners convention at Hazelton decides whether to permanent the provisional strike. About 19 000 workers in the district will suspend operations plus many others.
Indianapolis author Booth Tarkington is named in a 2000 dollar damages suit filed by Samuel J. Wilson. Albert A. Dougherty is a codefendant. The dispute centers on a doughnut bake oven Tarkington owns and Dougherty uses, linked to neighbor objections to a nearby doughnut factory.
In Pittsburg on May 10 Mrs Kate Softel was sentenced to two years imprisonment for aiding the murderers Jack and Ed Biddle to escape from the county jail several months earlier.
Patrick Omeers was killed in a runaway in Dubuque Iowa when his team struck the curb and he was thrown against a building his skull crushed instantly authorities report this morning May 15.
