Michigan State climbed into the title picture by sweeping Ohio State in a key doubleheader, ending any chance for Ohio State’s unprecedented run. MSU moved to 4-2 in conference play while Ohio State dropped to 2-6. Michigan State also swept Indiana to pull within one game of Michigan as Indiana split with the Wolverines. Minnesota and Wisconsin split, Illinois beat Purdue to gain, and Iowa-Northwestern split their doubleheader.

Capshaw of Muscatine won the Iowa Youth Bowling Association graduating seniors boys scratch division with 619 series and 719 set. He posted 218,203,189 and 201,260,258 to secure the state title and pursue national championships in Washington, D.C., in August. Michele Bieber of Hayes Catholic High took second in girls handicap with 492 and 493 series. Carolyn Rigdon of Muscatine was second in prep girls handicap with a 49% series and 90 handicap.
