Reports from across the state indicate severe frost and cold damage in May harming fruit and crops. Unseasonable conditions devastated fruit growers and farmers statewide.
Des Moines reports indicate nearly all blossoms were killed by frosts, with only late varieties and small fruits spared. Experts warn peaches and apples hit hard, oats and hay damaged, while Des Moines area gardeners fear lost crops despite some hope for cherries and minor fruit salvage.
Illinois Manufacturers' Association traffic bureau met at the Great Northern hotel and adopted resolutions urging amendment of interstate commerce law. They called rate discrimination evident in ICC rulings and urged enlarging the commission and appealing rulings.

Mrs Roosevelt and several women on the yacht Sylph narrowly escaped injury when the vessel collided with a tugboat near Washington on its return from the Potomac. The force toppled the Sylphs flagpole onto the deck but caused no injuries.
