The Muscatine Launch Club soliciting committee reports slow stock sales but says $2,000 raised and about $1,099 still needed to finish a clubhouse by July 4. Bonds at $10 with 6 percent interest secured by a first mortgage run 20 years. memberships rising as interest grows.
Mrs. J. H. Williams hosted Wilbur Williams fifteenth birthday party with music games and treats. Many residents including teachers and friends attended. A stream of locals made short trips to nearby towns for visits and errands. Anderson Bros. expanded locally by purchasing their building for 5500 dollars. community events included I O O F anniversary in Waterloo and Presbyterian church activities.

The Fraternal Aid Association plans a box supper and ice cream social at the new K P hall opposite Commercial hotel in Columbus Junction on Saturday evening May 2. Forecaster Jd. M. Shelier notes nearly stationary river stages from below Dubuque to Muscatine as the Mississippi remains largely unchanged.
A man named Ben Pool from Threet Alabama was dragged over a gravel road and survived unharmed after using Bucklen's Amice Salve sold at Havercamp's Prescription Drug Store. The ad notes the product price at 25 cents.
Ed Martin purchases the Ed Davis farm and takes possession immediately. Davis has not yet decided future residence. Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. E R Sheffer attended the West Chester convention. The opening of the shelling season along the Big Bend of the Mississippi River sees about twenty shellers launch from river towns. Early reports indicate several good hauls and optimism for a bountiful season as dams are expected to yield more. Shelters show improvements with gasoline engines for faster travel. Edward Martin of Sweetland township mourns the death of his brother in New Jersey and receives community sympathy.
Miss Aurora Johnston, longtime East Hill resident and former factory worker, wed Harry Smith of Denver in late March. The couple, who met in Denver while Johnston worked in a dry goods store, plan to live there and may visit Muscatine soon.
