Budget Hearing July 15 Sets Budget for Muscatine Schools
A public hearing is set for 7 p.m. July 15 on the Muscatine Community School Districts proposed 1968-59 general fund budget of 3,877,484 dollars. Board members tentatively approved the budget for publication and can reduce the tax levy at the July 15 meeting. final adoption will occur then. The district expects higher spending due to salaries, but taxes may drop slightly due to increased state aid and a rise in district valuation from 48 to about 51 million dollars. The first 40 percent comes from county basic tax, with state equalization aid and income tax aid also contributing to funds for instruction, administration, and operation.
