Council Wins in the Paving Case
Muscatine city council scores a victory over the brick trust in the paving dispute as Judge A P Barker of Clinton dissolves the temporary injunction. The opinion holds the council acted legally in all details, and bidding and contracting steps remained valid without reissuing a two thirds vote. Separate actions involved advertising for bids and proceeding with the improvement at the point court action halted. Also notes a special Iowa Lodge No. 2 meeting on June 27 for Masons with 3rd degree work and refreshments, and a Bowman's ad offering budgets and carriages.

Rains of Great Benefit to Muscatine Crops
Two refreshing showers Sunday night improved the outlook for Muscatine county crops though fears linger of a heavier downpour. The lower county fared better with rain, while the north end saw less. Vegetables and small grains benefited, but extreme heat and drought in recent weeks left soil dry and heavy rain must follow to save remaining crops.
