Foster homes sought in Muscatine County for youths in need
Muscatine County Department of Social Services seeks foster parents to care for children and teenagers on a temporary basis. About 50 foster homes exist with 2 children in care, while applicants must meet steps from application to home floor plan, stability check, and licensing. Betty Schutt interns, noting teenagers are hardest to place and birth control pills may be provided if requested. emphasis on keeping children with natural families. Summer enrollment drive runs June 26 to July 14 to recruit more foster homes.

Active duty servicemen on leave and National Guard and Army Reserve members bound for summer camp may cast ballots in the Town primary on Aug 1. County Auditor John Tex announced ballots are printed and can be voted at his office for those not present on Aug 1. Other Muscatine voters traveling on Aug 1 may vote at the auditor's office starting July 26. Absentee ballot applications are available at the auditor's office.

Graduates Queued From Guard NCO School at Camp Dodge
More than 125 National Guardsmen were set to graduate from the NCO school at Camp Dodge Des Moines after a two week course. Among those listed were Frank Jauvez Loren McElroy Clifford Lan fier and Thomas Holmes. The Guardsmen hail from units statewide including Co C 1st BN 86th Field Artillery Muscatine and the 180th Aviation Squadron Davenport. They have trained since June 11 to qualify for active roles in the Guard command structure.
