Yachtsman Rescued After Three Days Afloat in Raft
Jean De Kat, 27, was reported fit aboard a Norwegian freighter after surviving three days in a rubber life raft in the Atlantic. His three-hulled Yaksha broke up in a storm that scattered competitors in the single handed trans Atlantic race sponsored by the London Observer. Fourteen of 35 entrants remain unaccounted for as storm conditions and radio limits hinder tracking. Traditional single hull designs appear to be outpacing experimental catamarans and trimarans.
