Cattlemen Ignore Suggestions On Slaughter Weight Decline

Cattlemen show little heed to leaders urging lighter slaughter weights to curb beef tonnage. An Agriculture Department market report indicates weights rising, with seven market averages at 1180 pounds, up 10 pounds from last year, and Chicago average at 1202 pounds. Chicago choice steers June 7 averaged 23.66 per hundred, down from 25.20 a year earlier. Eggs grading rules rise for minimum top grade albumen value and remove yolk centering as a quality factor.
