Heublein Awarded 131000 Assessment and Tax Notes
Heublein Inc appealed a 1962 grain handler tax dispute after the city board of review raised its alcohol inventory assessment to 131000. The firm originally sought 92306, later claiming the 1962 value. If taxes follow last year’s mill rate, the tax on merchandise would be about 14412, or 180 if taxed under the grain handler rule. The 1964 mill rate remains pending, likely near 1968 levels as the city tracks operations. Also, council approved a 4 motion on tree height requirements but aldermen backtracked, sending the issue to the ordinance committee.
