Two Des Moines Youths Drowned In River Swim
Des Moines river claimed two young lives when Harold Cotterell age 17 and Carl Keister age 16 drowned while swimming at Camp Douglas four miles north of Des Moines. Breaks Record for Altitude in Indianapolis Flight
Walter Brookins in a Wright biplane set the world altitude record at 4503 feet in Indianapolis. The flight lasted 40 minutes before a two mile glide to a wheat field. A farmer guarding his land was the only onlooker as Brookins landed. His prior record was 4384 feet set Monday.
