Roosevelt Plan Shapes Meat Inspection Bill Content

The House agriculture committee authorized Wadsworth and Brooks to amend the meat inspection portion of the agricultural bill to fit President Roosevelt's views before sending it to the President. Some presidential suggestions may be rejected, and the civil service commission would supply inspectors. The secretary of agriculture would have final say on manufacturing dates and labeling. No Republicans voiced minority views. Democrats decline to re draft. The Senate insisted on its naval appropriation amendments, and the House adjourned after announcing Rufus Lester's death.
