In Davenport Iowa June meetings and activities dominated church and civic circles. The Ladies of the G A met at Mrs William Fister s home on Mdberry Avenue, planning future events and arranging for the next weekly meeting. The Woman s Missionary Factory program at the Wiekt Methodist church was discussed, with the upcoming July events and speakers outlined. Father Lights Society of the First Baptist Church set a Tuesday evening meeting at Mrs Sam Block s home on Mulesberry Avenue featuring devotions by Mrs Hudlow and a current events paper by Mrs Congrove. Thirty members attended the Sewing Circle of the German Evangelical church to work on nondiework, button cards, and quilting with lunch served at the close.

Ganges Plan to Oil Road Stalled by Cost Concerns
From Musontine and Johnson counties comes word the River to River highway between West Liberty and Town City will not be oiled this year. A recent agreement claimed only a third of expenses could be covered, leaving West Liberty residents disappointed despite promises of two thirds from the other county. The county board will meet Tuesday with supervisors to discuss further plans and invited residents to attend.

Wilton Men Near Death in Car Crash
Two local youths Gus Napolovs and Louis Miller were badly injured when a car carrying them and a companion rolled over several times near Wilton West Lawn. Napolovs was unconscious for hours after the wreck while Miller was briefly unconscious. both received head and body injuries but no broken bones. They were taken to a hospital and will be laid up for some time. The car was completely demolished.
