Second Seven Evening Year’s Work With Exercises
West Liberty June 15. The second school entertainment was held at the opera house on June 18. The junior class presented a crowded program including a class history, a prophecy, and The Cranford Play. The evening featured Miss Mattie Jenky ns, Miss Nannie Burge, and the Cranford cast with Misses Hartman and Nichols. The event closed with the class song and yell. teachers and students praised the program and noted changes in staff for next year.

Attempted Hold Up Near Hotel Grand Targeted Nora Emmett
An elderly man attempted to seize Miss Nora Emmett's watch near the alley behind the Hotel Grand around 9:00 pm Thursday. Her mother and father intervened as the man fled in a buggy, escaping down Cedar and First streets. Miss Emmett provided a rough description, saying the man appeared 35 to 44 with moderate build. Police were informed the following day. motive remains unclear.
