Federal boat numbers urged for identification nationwide
Washington June 44. Motor boat owners on the Mississippi and elsewhere would be required to carry federal numbers for identity in collisions or accidents under Bureau of Navigation bills. A national conference of power boat associations and trade spokesmen unanimously approved two measures: federal numbers for boats carrying passengers and federal licensing after operator fitness exams. The rules would apply generally, not only where four or more passengers ride.
