U S Expedition Officers Arrive in France for Future Duties

In France, Major General Pershing and a U S party met French officers as a large contingent of American staff arrived to prepare for future troops. Colonel MeCarthy, Colonel Taylor, Colonel Irekend, Major Dram, and Captains Moore and Pargex joined the mission at the station. The visit included informal talks with French counterparts. The King invited General Pershing's party to Buckingham Palace where luncheon with the Queen and King was held.

A Cedar Rapids landscape gardener, Everett Louwodre, was arrested on orders from Federal agents amid a mail letter plot alleging poisoning of Colonel W. C. Dows and others. The letter, claimed to be from Keil Fy of New York, asked for poison to be sent to many targets and described poisoned milk and crops. Authorities seized materials and prepared further action as a federal grand jury bond was set at 20000 dollars.
