Titan launch system is preparing for a flight with nearly three million pounds of thrust to deploy a range of military payloads into space.

In Montreal, five hooded men robbed Bank of Montreal of between 475000 and 100000 dollars in cash from a downtown branch. Three carried revolvers and one a machine gun. no shots were fired. Washington AP reports President orders Veterans Administration to keep five of eleven planned hospital closures and two of four soldier rest homes open, industry domi ciliaries at White City Oregon and Bath New York stay open while closures target Thomasville Georgia and Clinton Iowa. Hospital election set for Thursday in Washington Iowa on a $750000 bond to aid a $1425000, 60 bed county hospital.
Premier Phan Huy Quat said Vietnam cannot solve the current political crisis and has asked army generals to mediate between his government and opposition. He stated the generals support strong civilian government and that this does not imply military control. The military is moving back into politics as Suu and Quat clash over cabinet changes, with Catholic demonstrators decrying perceived discrimination.

Secretary of State Dean Rusk said U S forces in South Vietnam will not sit idle as Viet Cong threats grow and monsoon season brings sharp engagements. He cited Hanoi sending tens of thousands of trained personnel and thousands of tons of arms to bolster the insurgency, with about 54 000 U S troops in country and 38 000 North Vietnamese officers and workers involved in the effort.
Senator Morse a vocal critic of foreign aid moves to cut at least 500 million from the aid authorization bill. The Senate debates amendments to a 3.35 billion two year authorization as Mansfield says final passage seems unlikely before next week. Miller of Iowa will push a vote to cut U.N. arrears based U.S. aid to nations overdue over one year.
