Mary Townsend was honored at two bridal showers. A surprise shower was hosted by dorm friends at Town State University Ames with Jani Johnson and Rosalie Pearson as co hostesses. A second shower by Sugar Creek Ladies Aid was at Rachel Norton home Tipton with JoAnne Kiser co host. Gifts went to Mildred Glenney Joan Griffin and Carleen. Mary and Rick Crooks plan to marry August 2.

Wilbert Matzen and wife honored on 40th anniversary
Mr and Mrs Wilbert Matzen of rural Stockton were celebrated at a surprise potluck marking their 40th wedding anniversary at Leonard Finch home in Prophetstown Illinois Marion Greil and Wilbert Matzen wed June 3 1936 at the home of Mrs Matzen's sister in DeWitt on the Olsons fifth wedding anniversary. They farmed 40 years in Scott and Muscatine Counties and have retired on their Stockton area farm since January. They have three daughters Faye Finck of Prophetstown Lois Alpan of DeWitt and Linda Splatt of Bloomington with ten grandchildren. A ruby and white centerpiece was given by sister and brother-in-law Frank Ewoldt Eldridge whose 45th anniversary was June 6. Visitors came from many towns in Iowa and Illinois and Indiantown Florida.
