Phyllis Jean Beaver and Charles Edward Collins exchanged vows Friday June 7 at 7 p.m. in West Liberty Methodist Church with Rev. Harland T. Gant officiating. The couple, attended by about 200 guests, planned to honeymoon and later reside in Town.
Zion Lutheran Church Women Group 1 met Thursday at the parish house. Members sang for birthdays this month and discussed The Great Creator from Psalm 104. Plans included cookies for the dedication of the retirement and nursing home at Lutheran Homes on June 23 and a visit to the sick. The next meeting moved to July 11.
River Bend Food Service members toured the Amanas on June 6 with 38 attendees from 12 schools. Schools listed include West Liberty Conesville L M Grand View L M Letts Columbus Junction Wapello Nichols West Junior High Central Junior High Mulberry Colorado and Montpelier. Mr Arp from Montpelier drove the bus.
Mrs Elsie Robinson attended the commencement exercises for her son Richard a kindergarten pupil, held at Central High Davenport. The event marked a 12 year lapse since their family last noted similar celebrations.
Mr and Mrs Eugene W Petersen moved from Silvis Illinois to Muscatine in May 8 as resident engineer for the Muscatine Louisa pumping station project under the Rock Island District Corps of Engineers. They reside at 17 Marian Drive Holdrege Neb is home base.
The YWCA weekly calendar features extensive softball and swimming offerings for children from eight through sixth grade, with multiple swim lessons daily and plunge times. Teens, adults, and families have additional classes and activities including story hours, life saving, and social clubs throughout the week.

Grandview Church announces weekly schedule with Sunday services at 9:30 and 10:30, youth groups in the evening, choir practice midweek, and a Thursday Women’s Organization meeting. Local residents Russell and Leah Gast entertain relatives in Indianapolis and attend the Memorial Day events. The Happy Worker’s Sunday school class plans a Grandview Park barbecue on Tuesday evening with a covered dish. Sigma Kappa hosts a July no-meeting period, with a planned August 1 picnic at West Liberty park.

Oakville Methodist Church confirms Bill Smith re elected to the official church board with Mrs John O'Brien serving as secretary. The regular meeting occurred Tuesday night at the church as Rev Samuel E Bowser announced plans to attend the South Town Annual Conference with his wife starting Monday.

Faith and Nightingale Circle hosts a birthday party at the church with Frances Swan as chair.
