Pumps Lift Water From Flooded Muscatine Island Lands
Two of three pumps at Fort Louisa station are lifting flood waters from Muscatine island into the Mississippi. A third pump is overhauled at Rock Island arsenal and will be put in service. Continued rains slow pumping across flooded acreage, with water up to six feet in some areas. Field fences submerged. supervisor Richard Brawbaugh notes one pump uses a 36 inch pipe to the river, operating eight days. another 54 inch pipe was added after repairs. Flank levee cuts began to improve drainage. Two cars collided on West Fourth Street. Linda Lou Roush cited for failure to control vehicle.
