Quincy Strikes Bridge Delays Mississippi Steamer
The Streckins line steamer Quincy, famed as the upper Mississippi’s fastest, cleared the river at dawn after a near miss with a high bridge. An eleven foot water stage and a toppled stack forced cautious maneuvering under the bridge, narrowly passing with the boat nearly stationary and still sounding its way along the approach.
