Two-County Education Budget Rises In Tentative Draft
A preliminary budget of 1.8 million for the 1969-70 school year was presented to the Muscatine Scott County board of education by Supt. Jerry B. Stout. The plan totals 500000 more than 1968-69 and is described as a composite of outside figures. The largest increases are in professional salaries and computer services as the three year federal subsidy for the two county data processing system expires. The board deferred action on a new computer system and approved hiring David Lanaghan as principal for the Center for Children With Learning Disorders at Mount Pleasant School, at 15800, with James Kay becoming assistant director of special education in the fall.
