Pompidou led with 43.95 percent in continental France, while Poher trailed with 23.44 percent, narrowing Poher’s chances of overtaking the frontrunner. Jacques Duclos placed a strong third, and polls earlier in May predicted Poher could reach high support but failed to sustain it.
