Emergency first aid was given to Douglas Verle Walton after a motorcycle and car collision at Spruce and West 5th in Muscatine. Walton, 25, was treated then released from Muscatine General Hospital. Driver William Cory, 48, was northbound on Spruce. damages were to the car’s rear and motorcycle front. Separately Orrin Sell, 48, jailed five days for driving without a license after a West Mississippi Drive crash damaging two parked Cadillacs. Others: Jean Volkens and Arthur Jones two-vehicle crash at 10th and Spring. Stiles Drug Co. parking lot collision damaging several cars including Clara Lang’s.

Police are investigating two thefts reported in the past few days. Joseph Hayek aged 22 of Elmhurst Illinois was injured in a single car crash four miles south of Nicholson on U S 78 at about 1 55 pm on Wednesday. His heavily damaged car left the road struck a curb rolled over and returned to the roadway. He was taken to Columbus Junction for first aid and towing arrangements. Investigation ongoing.

Driver Fined For Axel Overload In Muscatine County
Neal A. Foster appeared in 7th District Court before Judge R K Stohr and pleaded guilty to axle overload charges. He was fined 148.58 dollars plus 25 dollars costs after a May 16 weight at a state scales in Muscatine County showed the truck exceeded legal limits on axles two through five by 8 940 pounds. Foster waived counsel and expedited sentencing.
