Youth Drowns In Gravel Pit

Man Dies in Fall at Gravel Pit South of Muscatine
Henry Hank Kulp 52, a dredge operator for Northern Sand and Gravel Co, fell from a catwalk into a pit half a mile south of Muscatine this afternoon. Rescuers worked about an hour to revive him. Dr. W. De Roudybush pronounced him dead. Fellow workers reported the fall occurred from a catwalk at the sand dredge. George Slattery heard the splash and pulled Kulp onto the catwalk. Despite wires of an electric line holding him up, Kulp did not survive. Funeral arrangements were made at George M. Wittich Funeral Home. Kulp resided with his brother Lincoln Rulp on route 5 and had worked for Morteen 25 3/4 years.
