Indications favor forming a large relief fund over ordering a general strike to aid anthracite miners. Delegates opposed to a strike warn Pennsylvania could be saved while other states suffer. Caucuses tonight aim to ease tensions as districts set assessment estimates from ten to twenty five percent.
President Roosevelt censured General Jacob H. Smith and retired him from the active list for the kill and burn order sent to Major Waller. The president also censured Major Waller in the same action.
Frank Leahey a Marion Iowa drug store clerk recently from Chicago was instantly killed when he touched a live wire that powered an electric fan in Cedar Rapids on July 17. The accident occurred at the Marion location where Leahey worked after moving from Chicago.
