Muscatine Firemen Parade to Iowa City for Special Train
About two hundred Muscatine firefighters and many supporters traveled by a special train to Iowa City for a morning parade hosted by the fire department. Mayor Barney Schmidt and city officials led the civic procession, with afternoon races planned for the Muscatine team, which hoped to win multiple events. The trip faced train-coach shortages due to other national events, but coaches were arranged and the special departed fully loaded.
