A dozen Muscatine residents plan a trip to Denver for the Democratic National Convention opening July 7. Riders will depart by train from Davenport on Saturday or Sunday with several choosing the Firefly to Davenport and the Rocky Mountain Limited to Denver. Named travelers include I. S. Pepper Lee P. Judge D V Jackson granted a new trial in the Vera Smith Day Hendrix case after claims of excessive damages. The original verdict of 11000 was set aside as new evidence will be introduced next fall. The case drew top legal talent from Iowa City Columbus Junction and Muscatine in a highly noted Muscatine county trial.
