Funk calls on supporters to vote for Judge Kenyon for at least one day to break a deadlock. Young men stand with him in urging turnout and rallying support to resolve the impasse.
In Des Moines Iowa Judge W S Kenyon surged in the senatorial race after A B Funk halted his bid and urged support for Kenyon for at least one day. Standpatters plan to back Young one final time. Vote totals show Kenyon 66 Porter 47 Young 36 Garst 1 with 150 cast. Several changes shifted support from Funk to Kenyon or Young. A House bill by Stipe seeks two state normal schools, Shenandoah among sites.
Danville, Jan 1. Grand jury questioned City Attorney Fred W. Jones after he claimed ethical grounds to avoid a question. He sought counsel and was told to return at two. The ministerial group heard Rev A Saunders claim knowledge of vote selling at a recent association meeting. Foreman Woodyard later sought a judge's order to compel answers.

Gompers said he read Shakespeare and the Bible but never saw the word with an H dash. The hearing elicited laughter as lawyers argued the interpretation of the phrase in question.
In Albany on January 31 the twelfth ballot for the U S senator yielded no choice as negotiations between Tammany leader Charles F Murphy and Senator Roosevelt continued. Despite denials of results, aides saw the talks as a potential opening for a Democratic solution amid ongoing conference roundups. Meanwhile in Denver a woman, Katherine M Cooke, former state superintendent, received a vote for senator on the Colorado legislature joint ballot, but no selection was made.
Des Moines set to hear Miss Sylvia Pankhurst, the Isagish suffragette, speak to the Iowa legislature after the joint ballot on the U. S. senator is completed. The announcement came today in Des Moines.
Webster City Iowa January 31 16 year old Raymond Kallen died after being shot in the abdomen while attempting to force a 22 caliber cartridge from a rifle last night The incident occurred in Webster City involving a youth and a firearm.
