Muscatine Masquers Prepare Raise the Roof Show

Dick Boldt and Vince May direct the Muscatine Masquers stage variety Raise the Roof to raise funds for a community theatre. Boldt brings HMS Pinafore Meet Me in St. Louis The Girls in 509 and Mary Mary experience. May directs music at Muscatine Community College and works with Up With People. Show dates March 14 15 at 8 pm in the high school auditorium. Admission 150 for adults 100 for students Tickets on sale this weekend at Bramwyay Drug corner Second Iowa starting March 7.

Four autos damaged in Muscatine traffic accident

At 7:40 p.m. Wednesday at 7th and Chestnut streets in Muscatine two moving vehicles collided. Steven Reed, 16, and Lionel Hites Jr., 18, were driving the cars. Reed sustained a bruised left leg. Reed’s car hit a parked car owned by Geraldine Rechneff, which then hit another parked car owned by Carl Sipes. Damages affected the left side and windshield of Reed’s car, Hites’s hood and lights, Rechneff’s left front, and Sipes’s grill. Also listed are school events and a workshop note for MHS.

Musical to Open Here Tonight by Muscatine High School

Muscatine High School choral department, with over 200 members, presents the fast moving sentimental musical review Once Upon a Yesterday. The show features songs like School Days Strike Up the Band Sweet Rosie O'Grady Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Hound Dog with Mickey Mouse Elvis Presley and Little Bo Peep appearing in the acts. Performances are at 8 o clock this evening and Saturday in the high school auditorium. Tickets are available from choral department members or at the door.

Cub Scout Pack 633 Holds First Banquet in Madison School

Madison school's Cub Scout Pack 633 hosted its inaugural Blue and Gold Banquet with about 35 attendees. Don Tracy presented the charter. Den 2 led ceremonies. badges were awarded to David Adkinson, David Chelf, Steve Hansen, Tim Mehaffey, and Myron Meyn.

Muscatine Citizens Advisory Committee broadens city focus

The reactivated Muscatine Citizens Advisory Committee began a broader program at its first 1969 meeting. It will study annexation housing downtown renewal and public safety, with an annexation committee named. The group, appointed by Mayor Burns, advises the city council but has no direct powers.

Suspension and Revocation of Muscatine Area Licenses

The Iowa Department of Public Safety announced suspensions and revocations for two Muscatine area drivers. Ralph Everett Butler of Durant received a 60 day suspension for a serious violation, while Lloyd Martin Speak of Blue Grass had a one year license revocation for drag racing.

Muscatine area to host Sunday School convention

A local committee of area pastors plans a Sunday School convention for Muscatine and nearby areas. The event, set for Friday evening and Saturday May 23 and 24, will be sponsored by Scripture Press with publicity and local arrangements by the committee. Officers include Rev Don Olson, Rev Herbert Gotaas, Capt Nancy Rilesey, and Rev Joseph Stoube.

Siren test scheduled for Muscatine Monday

Muscatine will test its storm warning siren at 3 p.m. Monday, March 3. Four of six sirens will sound briefly with pauses. two, including city hall and Busch Street, will be inaudible due to January ice damage. Civil Defense Director Earl Jones says replacements will be done by the factory.

Veterinarians Return From Illinois Vet Meeting

Dr. Glen E Barrington and Dr. John E Tillie of Muscatine returned from the 87th annual convention of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association in Chicago. The three day meeting drew over 500 veterinarians for a continuing education program with more than 30 nationally prominent specialists lecturing on small and large animals, dairy and beef cattle, hogs, and horses, plus regulatory veterinary medicine and public health sections.
