A passenger train plunged down an embankment injuring about fifty travelers who were asleep in their berths. The disaster disrupted service and prompted emergency response as crews tended the injured and investigated the crash site.
A train derailment injured a small number of passengers with no fatalities reported. Authorities said the accident involved four sleepers and investigations are ongoing for cause and safety compliance.
The eighteen hour special train of the Pennsylvania Railroad wrecked at Black Diamond near Johnstown. Forty to fifty people were injured including several listed as fatally or seriously hurt. Officials cited brake rigging failure on the first Pullman as the cause and recovery teams worked at the scene.

State Senator De Wolf claimed Washington would be a standpatter, Jefferson a Bryan Democrat, Lincoln a Cummins Republican. Liquor dealers win as their shipping bill advances in senate temperance committee with three votes against.
Cleveland mayor Johnson shifts from a U cent fare to no fare at all. He argues a city funded street car system could operate if taxation laws allow covering all expenses.

In Las Esperanzas Mexico on February 23 a gas explosion at the Mexican Coal and Coke company mine killed 100 workers and left 22 men still entombed. Officials expect all trapped to be dead.
The well dressed man was found dead one mile west of DeWitt on Feb 22 after arriving from the east at noon and walking out of town in the evening. He had been dead several hours. Authorities found no immediate identification.
