Italian radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi sails for the United States aboard the SS Mauretania carrying his latest apparatus. The device aims to boost wireless telegraphy experiments and expand transatlantic communication research with U.S. laboratories and investors watching closely.
Marconi leaves Southampton aboard the Philadelphia with new wireless telegraph gear aiming for cross Atlantic contact within a thousand miles. The voyage will cut land links by about one day, enhancing long distance communication during the trip.

A severe sleet storm hit Washington on Feb 21 forcing the capital to rely on uncertain wires to Richmond and Atlanta as telegraph and telephone lines north of Baltimore were cut. Wires sustained damage but no injuries were reported.

Indianapolis, Feb 22. Robert Waters once a burglar with a long police record and for twelve years a real estate dealer in the city has disappeared taking several thousand dollars from property owners he represented as agent.

A committee was named to visit Peoria and arrange a joint conference with the Illinois Coal Operators' Association to fix a wage scale. Madrid Feb 22 Labor disturbs wages.
