The Park Avenue M E church Ladies’ Aid held a farewell reception at Mrs. W J Grady’s home 1213 East Second Street in Miss Hoopes’s honor. She departs for Chicago next Wednesday to study at Moody Institute after serving as Park Avenue church superintendent. About fifty women attended with a musical program and a silver spoon presented by Dr J C Willits. A four course luncheon followed.

The H. J. Heinz company is selling its contracts with truck dealers for the coming season. Contracts are available at the Pickle works office in Park Place. The firm rents about 150 acres on the river road for new crops and has delayed stockyard work due to bad weather, water connections, and contractor travel to Washington, Iowa. Nearby residents Mr. and Mrs. Steen of Davenport and M. W. Pennelle of Silvis recently left the area.
