Muscatine to Build 150,000 kW Power Addition
Muscatine board of water and light trustees approved building a 150,000 kW coal fired addition to the municipal power plant on Maple Grove Road after weighing options to build own facility or join a larger southeastern Iowa unit. Negotiations with Iowa Electric Light and Power were concluded with a letter of intent. operation is targeted for June 1982. Stanley Consultants will design the project at an estimated cost of 135 to 150 million dollars in 1980s dollars.

Youth, 13, arrested for aggravated offense in Muscatine burglary
A 13 year old Muscatine boy was charged with aggravated offense after breaking into an apartment on three occasions early Sunday. He confronted resident Diane Lee at about 7 am carrying a knife and gun. Lee disarmed him and neighbors alerted police. Police also arrested three others on various charges. A separate theft report involved a gold winter coat at the YMCA valued at 395-98. Several traffic collisions occurred Saturday and Sunday, with minor injuries to a child in one Beeding vehicle incident.
