In 1903 and 1904 I suffered kidney and bladder trouble for five months. I could not sleep, urinated often, passed mucus and blood. A doctor warned of consumption and gave up. Secretary E F A Ogilvie aims to bring prominent boosters to address the Muscatine Commercial club annual smoker set for Monday February 27. Woodworth Clum of the Greater Davenport committee and Lafe Young Jr of Des Moines are sought to share insights with local merchants and manufacturers. Further plans will follow.
The State Convention of the Horseshoers will meet in Muscatine in April. The Commercial club quarters were granted for the event and the club donated twenty five dollars to boost the entertainment fund. About fifty visiting members are expected, with plans to improve their stay and a detailed program to follow.

Lieutenant Mumma of the regular army inspected the Iowa National Guard company led by Captain H. F. Lange as part of preparations for the February 26 regular inspection. The unit wore olive drab winter uniforms and presented an excellent appearance. Rifles, packs, and the quartermaster's department were praised for their condition.
Wilton Iowa mourns Dr H Penney who died Monday at 3 30 p m after a cancer long illness He was born May 24 1836 in Mt Hope County New York married Amelia Margaret Smith on April 4 1862 and moved to Wilton eighteen years later Survivors include his wife daughter Pearl sisters Mary Burgett and Frances Morgan and brother Justice D Penney Funeral from the late residence Wednesday at two o'clock conducted by Rev W H Dillon Methodist Episcopal Church Interment in Oakdale Cemetery
Sister Mary Felicitas, superioress of the Muscatine branch of the Sisters of Charity, B. V. M., dies after a long illness of pneumonia. Born in Ireland in 1840, she came to Muscatine in 1862 and led St. Matthias school for 55 years, earning universal respect. Funeral Thursday at St Marys Church with high mass and sermon by Monsignor Ryan.

The Muscatine school system reports that five teachers are hospitalized with grip while pupil attendance remains generally strong since the new semester began. Miss Adnee Palmer, Miss Rena Berry, Miss Mary B. Ryan, Miss Helen Martin, and Miss Eva Johnson are listed as ill, with Miss Evelyn Oliver back at Franklin after a week’s absence.
The Clerks' Union increased its membership by twenty four at a Monday meeting as 24 candidates were admitted. Officials say more applicants were blocked by a shortage of application blanks, and further ballots are planned to strengthen the union in the near future.
The Mod ern Brotherhood lodge held a Monday meeting with six candidates initiated and eight ballot’d on. After refreshments a members only dance followed. The drill team plans a moonlight dance at Yeomen hall Saturday to raise funds for new uniforms.
