Muscatine levee repair work proceeds after breach in the riverbank near the municipal power plant. Attorney Harvey G. Allbee Sr. urged restoration to original condition while MPW manager James Fuller noted a four foot low stretch over 50 feet. Contractor Stanley Consultants said frozen material is being replaced with unfrozen material and filling should finish by mid next week. Rock rip rap will be added to the river side to 18 inches depth. Local officials attended a flood seminar in Rock Island hosted by the Army Corps of Engineers.

The Kiwanis club of Muscatine plans the fourth Travel and Adventure Series program at 8 p.m. Thursday February 13 in Muscatine High School auditorium. Rudi Thurau will narrate a vivid journey through Mexico with stories of Seri Indians Sharkfish Island Mazatlan and Guadalajara encounters. If granted, Halliday would reconsider and dissolve the injunction issued Jan 8, affecting 72 towns and counties. Riots End Occupation at Sir George Williams University
Montreal police cleared protesting students from Sir George Williams University after a nine hour clash that ended the occupation of the ninth floor computer center begun January 29. About 26 arrests followed as the demonstrators damaged the $1.6 million computer center and parts of a cafeteria and a faculty lounge while protesting a biology professor case.

Exotic dancer, snakes unhurt in a car wreck
On the Newport Freeway in Tustin California a sports car overturned. Officers found a 30 year old exotic dancer and three snakes, a cobra a rat esnake and a 56 pound boa constrictor, all uninjured. The dancer said the snakes were venomless and she kept them in her act.
