Muscatine to gain 43 thousand in state aid under budget
DES MOINES Gov Ray's 1975 budget proposes a $43 076 annual rise in state revenue sharing for Muscatine raising its municipal aid from 53 845 to 96 921 dollars per year for 1975 77. Wapello also would see a raise to 8 102 dollars. The plan hikes total state municipality aid from 5 million to 9 million dollars.

Two Muscatine residents and Kent Feeds employees Rich Severson and Dr. Tom McDonald join American Feed Manufacturers Association leadership roles. Severson will serve on the 1975 convention program committee in Minneapolis May 11 to 14 and chairs the national feed production school. He also heads the AFMA executive committee of the feed production council. McDonald has been elected vice president of the AFMA liquid feed council and will chair the 1975 liquid feed symposium in Omaha. He joined Kent Feeds in 1968 and is active in animal science associations.

Muscatine General Hospital trustees met to review malpractice insurance proposals after Argonaut Insurance Co cancelled policies in 11 states. Premiums are expected to rise about fivefold. The wage committee is drafting a merit based pay plan with cost of living adjustments, to be discussed at the April board meeting. Progress on the intensive care unit construction was reported, with cabinets due March 3 and tentative completion March 15. A long range planning session followed with architect Jerry Quebe.

Man Charged With Forgery Over Stolen Check
Danny L. Flake 22 of Lettsman is charged with forgery after attempting to cash a $195 stolen check at Muscatine Plaza Montgomery Wards. Police say he forged the victim’s signature and is held in Muscatine city jail on a $5,000 bond.

Iowa Senate backs out of state trapping ban bill
DES MOINES AP The Iowa Senate passed a bill to bar residents from other states from trapping in Iowa unless their home states allow Iowans to trap there. Eight licenses have been issued to out of state trappers this season. Sen Calvin Hultman plans a congressional resolution to aid cattlefeeders with low interest, long term loans similar to disaster aid.
