Organized baseball to be probed as trust
Indianapolis December 31. Federal league counsel Edward E Gates said organized baseball may be attacked as a Sherman act trust and for blacklisting players under the reserve clause. He warned courts will act only with clean hands and may dismiss equity if a club seeks to restrain a player without merit. The issue centers on whether the national commission is a trust and whether a blacklist exists under the reserve clause.
