Rev Stumme to leave Lutheran Homes January 15
Rev L A Stumme, superintendent of The Lutheran Homes Route 5 for 25 years, resigns effective Jan 15. He and wife plan to move from 920 Newell Ave to Waterloo address 322 Alta Vista Ave. Stumme came to Muscatine Feb 1 1945 and will shift to development and public relations in church-related field. Under his leadership Valley View Manor expanded with a three wing addition adding 60 beds to the nursing home and retirement care complex.

James F. Loper 2006 Circle Drive was appointed to a five year term as a Muscatine Power and Water trustee replacing Robert E. Olson. Mayor E S Burns also reappointed Glenn Axel as police chief for two years. Axel has served since 1966 and the department has grown to 25 officers.
