The Muscatine High School Auroran staff highlights the 1976-77 award winning yearbook and outlines the 1977-78 staff leadership led by Brad Kardux and Rachel Dietz. Veterans mentor rookies as layout and sports staff named. Fall 1978 delivery planned with autograph inserts available in spring.
Muscatine High School announced winners of the Christmas Decorating Contest judged by a student faculty team. Awards by community include Career first place for Advisor Bases, with Mary Jo Block noted as a key participant. Fine Arts and Traditional groups also received top spots. First place trophies awarded at a 1145 p.m. Friday assembly. all school Christmas decoration trophy went to the Career community for participation and uniqueness.

Police reported a tranquil holiday period with one break-in and three auto accidents. A break-in at 503 Lake Park Blvd involved about 300 dollars in tools stolen from a garage accessed by slipping a tool under the door and pulling a chain. Sunday evening saw two separate pileups on Pinefield Street after ice caused a brake. No injuries were reported. Downtown, a 49 year old Dubuque man lost control near Grandview Avenue and snow, striking a no parking sign. A second collision occurred at Clay Street and Osett Avenue involving three vehicles. Jaycees held their annual Christmas Party for Kids at the Muscatine YMCA led by Doug White and Dennis McCullough. local firms aided the project led by Maureen T. Cannon.
