The large tract includes Bartlett street Mulberry Avenue Parham Avenue and the hospital and museum. Residents oppose the change and the commission will study it again before reporting findings.

Coder Returns Aboard Carrier Constellation
Machinist Mate Third Class Bernard C. Coder USN returns to the United States as a crew member aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Constellation after a seven month deployment with the Seventh Fleet in the Western Pacific. Constellation spent much of her tour on Yankee Station off North Vietnam, conducting 106 major air strikes in the Hanoi Haiphong area, destroying petroleum storage areas, bridges, shipyards. Pilots flew 10 583 combat and support missions and made over 71 700 arrested landings aboard the ship. Veterans Office Is Open Wednesday at Davenport Iowa courthouse for veterans assistance on December 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:08 p.m.

Midwest Lines Agreement Under Council Review
Aldermen studied a contract between Midwest Lines Transit and Muscatine city. Elmer H. Davis asked a $400 monthly subsidy during the extended period ending Jan. 31. Davis reported six month profits of 3207.34 with city subsidy totaling 2400 and actual line profit 807.34. The city issued the agreement to aid resident transportation.

Muscatine city council authorized Dec 28 completion of a lease with Keller Industries after approving $800,000 in municipal industrial revenue bonds to finance site acquisition and plant construction. Mayor Burns and City Clerk Mason directed entry into the agreement with no city expense, despite an objection letter by Norbert Beckey. Carleton D. Beh Co of Des Moines to underwrite the issue.

Caple Receives Liquor Permit Approval Here
Granville Caple was granted a liquor permit to operate Old Town Inn at the former Charcoal Broiler site by the city council on Thursday. Caple’s Class B beer permit was approved with a 36 day waiting period. Caple bought the Charcoal Broiler from Anna Reeves after Gail Ramer ceased operations. Aldermen referred a tree planting ordinance to the city attorney for revision and approved a new school bus operation ordinance on first reading. Dinner guests included Bloomington Mr and Mrs Harry Harper of Oskaloosa and Mrs Neil Weidner of Laramie, Wyoming.

Station Wagon Driver Missing After Early Morning Crash
Police found a station wagon without a driver after an accident at 1:27 a.m. in the 200 block of Cedar street south of the first city alley. A sign post and a parking meter were damaged.
