Six Drowned as Launch Capsizes at Tomales Bay
At least six people are believed drowned when a launch capsized at the mouth of Tomales bay 30 miles north of San Francisco. Ornburn Gray and Grant Gray, brothers, said the craft was disabled and drifted toward the open sea as occupants struggled to be rescued.

Negro Held as Slayer of Teacher in Missouri
Raymond Gunn, a 30-year-old Black ex-convict, was held in St. Joseph after allegedly confessing to the slaying of 19-year-old Velma Colter, a rural schoolteacher near Maryville. County Attorney Paul R. Jones said Gunn described attacking Miss Colter at her classroom door, beating her with a club. Mad Creek Sewer Plan Promised By City Council

City Provides Temporary Jobs For 90 Men In Muscatine
Muscatine city placed 15 workers on a sandbar project below Mad Creek and another 15 on south side street repairs as part of a Christmas relief effort.
