Man Held After Raid On Liquor Nuisance Case
Bert Smith 23 of Tennessee waived preliminary examination in Justice Horst's court and was bound over to the grand jury in bonds of 500 on a liquor nuisance charge but failed to provide bonds. A raiding squad including Deputy Jack Pace and agents found a 20 gallon cooker and a quantity of mash and completed liquor on his farm between Moscow and Atalissa along Highway 32.

George Henry Lohr 67, lifelong Muscatine resident and retired postal employee, died at 502 West Fourth Street after a 10 day illness with paralysis. Born April 18, 1863, he joined the postal service in 1889, serving as substitute letter carrier, general delivery clerk, mailing clerk in charge, and later assistant at the general delivery window. He worked under nine postmasters and witnessed parcel post and air mail developments.
