Muscatine youths honored at national vegetable growers meet
Donald G. Wilson of West Liberty and John Hitchcock of Muscatine were honored at the National Junior Vegetable Growers Association convention in Pittsburgh. Wilson won a blue ribbon and MIVGA pin for first place in a canning crops contest with his tomato crop sold to Heinz, while Hitchcock chaired the student farming committee and received special recognition for a unique project. The Muscatine Heine plant sponsored the trip for town winners and Heinz hosted a lunch with the National Canners Association.
