Muscatine's New Grand Opera House Opens After Years of Hope
Muscatine finally gains an opera house after a rapid build in under five months costing about $30,000 with capacity for 1100 seats and 1500. The Commercial Club led by Capt. Billy Ament and promoter Geo. H. Johnston organized subscriptions from 900 seats, overcoming early shortfalls to subscribe all seats and boxes.
